The headline doesn't even allude to the fact that the money is an earmark. No victims will receive any of this money. The money will be awarded to government agencies that will determine how it will be distributed. At least OMB is doing its job, but somebody, somewhere, somehow has to say enough already. The Federal Government is broke. As much as the Obama administration would like to help the hurricane victims, many of which are government agencies, it simply doesn't have the money to do so.
...FEMA still has $5 billion in its Disaster Relief Fund — enough to last until March. Therefore, they see no reason to rush through a bill so large with no hearings or negotiations on the size of the bill or how to pay for it.
FEMA has 5 billion dollars? That's nice. What is FEMA doing with it now? It's bizarre.
